Ways to ease morning sickness

Try acupressure. There is a pressure point about 2 inches above the crease on the palm side of the wrist that, when pressure is applied, may relieve nausea. Sea Band is one of the manufacturers that makes a wrist-band that is available without a prescription at pharmacies and travel stores. Vitamin B-6. Dr. Niebyl, MD of the University of Iowa, College of Medicine recommends 25 mg of vitamin B-6 every 8 hours. Take one before you get out of bed in the morning, one mid-afternoon, and one before bedtime. Antacids. Antacids such as Tums and Rolaids may help combat heartburn and are rich in calcium. Check with your doctor. Before taking a medication for nausea or motion sickness such as: Benadryl, Dramamine, or Antivert, check with your health care provider first. Ginger. Ginger capsules may be helpful in reducing the nausea. Before taking, be sure to check with your health care provider. Don’t Feel Like Cooking? . . . Try This Menu: Pre-Breakfast: toast or crackers Breakfast: cereal skim milk fruit pieces juice (a little later) Mid-Morning Snack: low fat granola bar or crackers skim milk Lunch: light sandwich with low-fat deli meat, chicken, or tuna fresh fruit Afternoon Snack: jello vanilla wafers cottage cheese Dinner: toasted cheese sandwich poached egg tomato soup toast Bedtime: veggies or toast skim milk
