Meet Elizabeth Geiger of The Baby Corner

There are a lot of websites on the net about women who are either trying to get pregnant, are pregnant, or already have a baby. Few offer the warmth and attention that Baby Corner does. This site has a well-rounded approach to the full aspect of motherhood – and also features a section especially for Dads aptly called Dad’s Place.

The founder, Elizabeth Geiger, pays personal attention to detail, as she builds and watches her site grow. Being a mom herself, she has added her personal touches to the site which has done nothing but grow since its birth. Here is what Elizabeth has to say…

LR: How long have you had Baby Corner?

EG: Baby Corner opened its doors in December of 1998 after the birth of my first daughter.

LR: Why did you set up this site?

EG: I started Baby Corner after the birth of my first daughter, Cassi. While pregnant, I searched the Internet for a community to which I felt welcome and could find support and the tools I needed to help me with my new job - Parenthood. I did not have much success. So, I taught myself web design, learned as much as I could about pregnancy and parenting topics, and started my own community! Here, parents can connect with each other, find support, and get answers to their questions. With the help of my wonderful husband, Scott, and our online friends and business partners, we run Baby Corner as a family business. Through our weekly articles, bulletin boards, panel of experts and other many interactive tools for pregnancy and parenting, Baby Corner continues to provide a supportive community for expecting and new parents.

LR: Tell us about Baby Corner - what features do you like the best?

EG: Baby Corner reflects a Parent to Parent feeling of community. This is what I like best about Baby Corner. The fact that any parent may contact a real person either by email or through our message boards to find the support and answers they need is truly amazing. We love helping other parents with tough issues like how to get your baby to sleep through the night, or breastfeeding problems, or just simply providing a place for new moms to connect with moms just like them.

Elizabeth Geiger is a mother of two girls, ages 3 and 2. Along with her wonderful husband, Scott, they live in Vestal, NY where they spend their days taking care of their babies and running Baby Corner. She is a self taught programmer and business owner, and takes pride in the fact that she does not have a college education. She stands by her opinion that you don’t need to have a college degree to succeed.
