Glucose Treatment & AIP

PREVENTIVE GLUCOSE INFUSION is the latest treatment for AIP and seems to be working for the many people on the preventive protocol. Glucose infusion requires a PICC line but one woman reports she was hospitalized 30 times for acute attacks in a three month period in 97-98, and she has not been hospitalized for an attack in two years now after getting the PICC line and going on home infusion. AIP is hepatic. The way to avoid attacks is to avoid the triggers...and MAINTAIN a high level of carbohydrates in the liver. 2 to 3 1,000 ml bags per week keeps the porph away for her. "I now have a quality of life. I had no life before as I was alway heading for the hospital or in the hospital" she reports.
