The Crystal Method – Tweekend

It’s been four years since the LA based electronica duo released their debut CD, which is a lifetime in today’s short attention-span world. They avoid a sophomore slump with Tweekend. The Crystal Method takes techno to a new level, adding grungy rock guitar samples, hip-hop beats and even a little funk. Their vocal sampling is also very creative and very well done. Tweekend is darker and more sparse than their first CD, but much more musically advanced and diverse.

Don Lewis Band – Between The Lines

If you like good old American rock and roll, you’ll love the Don Lewis Band. The songs are catchy, the lyrics are honest and straightforward, and the band is top-notch. There’s a range of styles from acoustic to electric on Between The Lines, and the group’s sound can be compared to Matchbox 20, Sister Hazel and Edwin McCain. It’s adult rock with just a hint of twang. The CD has 8 new tracks, plus 10 songs from previously released albums, so it’s a great opportunity to hear a wide sampling of music from an accomplished group.

Eve to Adam – Auburn Slip

New York City based Eve to Adam open some eyes and ears on their dynamic debut CD. Their music is hard rock, but different than your typical metal band. The rhythm section of Eve to Adam is different than most hard rock bands, too. Instead of constant pounding, driving monotonous beats, the bass and drum parts are funky and soulful at times, and the riffs are very creative. Auburn Slip is a noteworthy debut from a band ready to make some noise.
