Malcolm In The Middle has been critically acclaimed and hugely popular, receiving 5 Emmy nomination after its first season. It also received 3 Golden Globe nominations.
The theme song from the show is climbing the pop charts, and is included on the Malcolm In The Middle soundtrack along with one other track from They Might Be Giants. “You’re Not The Boss of Me” was recently showcased with a 90 second video of the song at the beginning of the show. They Might Be Giants recently signed with Restless Records, who are releasing the Malcom In The Middle Soundtrack. The group expects to have a full CD done sometime later this year.
They Might Be Giants have long been cult favorites. They might be compared to Barenaked Ladies. Both groups inject humor into their songs and shows, and both groups give legendary and memorable live performances. The group started as a duo of Johns, Flansburg and Linnell. They were having trouble getting a record deal, and came up with the idea of Dial A Song, a phone line playing their songs from an answering machine. The gimmick worked, and They Might Be Giants were signed to a record deal. Their self titled debut album was released in 1986. They had some success and were signed to Elektra Records, and their 1990 release Flood went gold.
With the increasingly popularity of grunge in the early 90’s, They Might Be Giants next several releases sold poorly. The group went from a duo to a full band in 1992. Their last release was a live album in 1998. With the resurgence of pop music, the group should have plenty of success with their next release.
