It's Time to "Pick The Hits"What are the results of the survey used for? They'll be given to record companies, artist managers, talent scouts, even the artists themselves. Those people will use the results to help make decisions about how hard to promote a song/cd/band, which cuts on a CD to highlight, or whether to sign or re-sign a band (or change to a different label if their current record company isn't getting it done for them). Here's just one example: let's say a new artist records a song that the label feels is just a so-so record. The record company will take it to some radio stations but, since the label isn't all that excited, the radio stations don't give the song much airplay. It would likely die soon. But if at the same time, through Pick the Hits, 50 or 100,000 people said "that's a great record!" the label would suddenly be throwing a lot of resources behind that song....and before you know it, maybe this new artist has a hit and a great start to their career. What kind of effect do you hope to have on the music industry? Our goal is to create a platform for both artists and listeners. If we give music fans a way to have direct, immediate impact on music, and give the music industry another new avenue to have their artists heard and be given a chance, then we'll have accomplished our goal. And personally, I'd like to be able to say a year from now that we (Pick the Hits and our users) found, saved, or helped some artists who can give the world some great music. Now that the site has been up for a while, what has been your response from the public and the industry? Industry reaction has been great. And we're getting great comments from users. They're sending us ideas, asking for more songs, and generally saying they really enjoy the experience. After all, people like new music and they love giving their opinions. And I think our users also enjoy knowing that their feedback on the songs will have a very real impact on the music industry and on what gets played on the radio. What are your future plans and goals for Pick The Hits? The number one thing we need to do is expand our user
