There aren't many CDs released in the month of December, so instead of my monthly CD reviews, I'll recap the top CDs and singles of 1999. I've enlisted the help of some of my fellow Suite 101.com editors as well, and their picks follow mine.
1999 was the year of teen pop and Latin pop. Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, N-Sync, Christina Aguilera and Ricky Martin ruled the charts. Will 2000 continue that trend, or will something entirely new and different conquer the pop charts? We'll just have to wait and see. Here are my favorite singles of 1999: 20. Edwin McCain - I Could Not Ask For More 19. Fatboy Slim - Praise You 18. Fastball - Out Of My Head 17. Jessica Simpson - I Wanna Love You Forever 16. Sixpence None The Richer - There She Goes 15. TLC - No Scrubs 14. 98 Degrees - The Hardest Thing 13. Tonic - You Wanted More 12. Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away 11. LFO - Summer Girls 10. Barenaked Ladies - It's All Been Done 9. Cher - Believe 8. Blessid Union - Hey Leonardo 7. Sugar Ray - Every Morning 6. Collective Soul - Run 5. Sheryl Crow - Anything But Down 4. Savage Garden - I Knew I Loved You 3. Tal Bachman - She's So High 2. Def Leppard - Promises 1. Goo Goo Dolls - Slide Let's turn now to CDs. I've only been pop music editor since May, but I've kept track of 1999's releases all year long. Here are my 12 favorites: 12. Gas Giants - From Beyond The Back Burner
