Luke Esterkyn (Stroke 9) Interview

What have been the 3 high points and 3 low points in your career?
High Points:
1. Meeting my beautiful fiance (she's right here so I had to say that).
2. Hearing "Backpack" as the # 1 requested song over "Nookie" in San Francisco.
3. Eating way too much sushi on Universal's dime (every bite was actually recoupable).
Low Points:
Even the lowest point in a musical career pales in comparison to anything that really matters in life. We've had tons of disappointments in our career, but never taken any of them seriously enough to bog us down.

What inspired you to get started in music, and how old were you?
I was inspired by my father who played guitar around me when I was growing up...I think I got interested when I was about eight.

Who were some of your influences?
Gordon Lightfoot, Billy Joel, Prince, Elvis, The Beatles, Johnny Cash.

Who are some current artists you like/admire?
Elliott Smith, Cake, Boys Gone Wild
