People want to hear the hits. Top 40 radio and MTV have proven this for years. In our short attention span, immediate gratification society, we want to hear the cream of the crop, and we want to hear it now! Back in the day, we would tape songs off the radio or take a bunch of different CDs and make a mix tape. In the download era of the past several years the focus has gone away from albums and toward singles. Many people buy entire CDs for just one song they like. That's not necessary anymore.
Now That's What I Call Music! has been delivering nothing but the hits for several years, and their latest release, Now That's What I Call Music! 16 is in stores now. Since 1998 they have released approximately three new compilations each year, and every single one of them has gone platinum, meaning they each have sold over a million copies. The series started in the UK nearly twenty years ago and they have released 56 different CDs there. Now That's What I Call Music! 16 includes the smash hits "Hey Ya!" by Outkast, "Naughty Girl" by Beyonce, Hoobastank's "The Reason," "My Band" by D12, Jessica Simpson's "Take My Breath Away," "One Call Away" by Chingy featuring J/Weav, and Black Eyed Peas' "Hey Mama." Additional R&B chart-toppers include "Freek-A-Leek" by Petey Pablo, "Dude" by Beenie Man featuring Ms. Thing, "Move Ya Body" by Nina Sky featuring Jabba, "Slow Motion" by Juvenile featuring Soulja Slim, and "Leave (Get Out)" by Jo Jo. Modern Rock is well-represented with Lenny Kravitz' "Where Are We Runnin'?", "Ocean Avenue" by Yellowcard, Switchfoot's "Meant To Live" and "Just Like You" from Three Days Grace. Other Pop chart-toppers featured include Britney Spears' "Everytime," Christina Milian's "Dip It Low," "Heaven" by Los Lonely Boys, and Gretchen Wilson's Country anthem, "Redneck Woman." The CD will also be the centerpiece of a special, 30-minute TV show of The Menu Presents -- Now That's What I Call Music 16, set to air on Saturday morning, July 31 on Fox Networks at 10:30 am EST/PST. The Now 16 TV show will be hosted by Carrie Keegan and will feature music videos of songs included on NOW 16 as well as behind the scenes footage from some of the artists on the album. NOW 16 artists will also be featured on segments of The Menu which airs on Fox Saturday mornings at 11 am EDT/PDT. Go To Page: 1 2
