Lord Of The Rings Redux

A planned sequel to bring the fantasy to a conclusion never materialized, and Rankin and Bass picked up where Bakshi left off. the duo completed the trilogy withThe Return of the King, another made-for-television special which ran up against the same time constraints and shoddy production values as their earlier movie and was met with generally unfavorable reviews.

Now it falls to New Zealand director Peter Jackson and all the spectacular computer generated special effects that a multi-million dollar budget can buy to breath new life into Tolkien's tale of adventure and heroism in the world of hobbits, men, Orcs and elves and deliver a definitive work from a myth that up till now has been deemed unfilmable.
