Stopping Predatory Lending

Another solution is for state legislatures to pass legislation preventing the practices that together make for predatory lending. Hopefully, state governments can make sure that any change in consumer laws will provide greater protections for our most vulnerable citizens and not just be symbolic improvements. People should be able to own homes without the fear of being forced into situations that are predatory in nature.

There is no doubt that consumers, especially the less financially savvy among us, are being taken by predators. The question is whether or not government is willing to reject the critics, not pander to the industry lobby and do the right thing.
