Enough is Enough...We must end This Orgy of Violence!

How many more children have to die, or sustain life-altering physical and psychological injuries before we as a society, as a nation of intelligent human beings striving toward a common good, say enough is enough? Read about the orgy of violence so far this year:

Have school shooting become so much a part of the daily American lexicon that we hardly take notice any more? What kind of country calls itself civilized and yet fails to act when its children are continually mowed down by violence that could be prevented week after week, month after month, year after year?

My 13-year-old daughter is afraid to go to school now; there have been bomb threats at her Jr. High school. They hold drills now where the classroom door is locked the lights turned off and the children made to huddle in corners, or crouch on the floor like they frighten animals paralyzed by the lights of an oncoming car! One of her teachers locks his door all the time now out of fear for himself and his students! Is this any way for us to teach our children? What are they learning growing up in this culture of violence we have fashioned for them out of ignorance and self-absorbance? And at the High School less than a quarter mile from my house there was bomb threat two days ago resulting in the school being locked down. And this is not the first, but the latest in a long string of threats that have made against the school since the school year started!

All of this because people no longer care enough about their fellow citizens to be responsible for their guns, their houses, and their children! We have turned into a nation of selfish, small-minded individuals whose only concern is ourselves; we have no sense of the greater good of all anymore, or at least that is how it feels to me. I say enough is enough! We have come to a point where the public’s right to be safe far out weighs any citizens right to carelessly own a firearm, period! Use them and store them responsibly I say or lose them! I for one have had enough!
