What subject can a poet relate to more than the art of writing poetry? Here are some examples of poems in which the subject matter revolves around the very craft it represents. The first two examples are kids poems and the third is a little more adult. A POEM IS A LITTLE PATH A poem is a little path That leads you through the trees. It takes you to the cliffs and shores To anywhere you please. Follow it and trust your way With mind and heart as one And when the jouney's over You'll find you've just begun. -by Father Goose (Charles Ghigna) http://www.inkspot.com/author/ghinga Inside A Pen Inside a pen live dragons and kings, and soldiers and wishes and fanciful things. Inside a pen live mermaids and frogs and ponies and clowns and slop-eatin' hogs. Inside a pen live rainbows and dreams and airplanes and lions and marvelous schemes. Inside a pen, your hopes and your glories are waiting for you to write their stories. -Arden Davidson (me) http://members.aol.com/Bvsangl/pocket.ht... Metaphor "At the point where language falls away from the hot bones, at the point where the rock breaks open and darkness flows out of it like blood, at the melting point of granite when the bones know they are hollow & the word splits & doubles & speaks the truth & the body itself becomes a mouth. This is a metaphor." by Margaret Atwood http://redfrog.norconnect.no/poems/poetp...
