Don't Worry...There's Still Hope!

There is nothing more discouraging or frustrating than knowing you have what it takes to succeed as a published author, and not being able to convince the publishing industry that your confidence is valid.

Well here are a few quotes from published authors that helped inspire me to keep going. I hope they will inspire you too...

**"I wrote my first novel at age 6, in a copy-book, crayon illustrated, for my grandmother. I've been writing ever since. When I was working on Out After Dark, I often felt lost. And when it was finished, it took a good long time to find the right agent and a publisher who was willing to take a chance" - Kai Maristed, Author of Out After Dark

**Did you know that Dr. Suess' first book was rejected by 23 different publishers?

**"I persisted in my goal because I believed I had talent and knew that someday I would succeed. During those 23 years (that it took to get published), I collected enough rejection slips to wallpaper the guest powder room...Then one day, just prior to my 44th birthday, the phone rang with those words I'd longed to hear for so many years...I must confess that was the happiest day of my life". - Tamar Myers, Author of The Palm Quarterly and Too Many Cooks Spoil the Broth

**"Once the door opens and you have the opportunity to prove yourself, you'll be surprised how easily the next books sell." - George Herman, Author of Carnival of Saints

So, do you feel rejuvinated in your motivation, now? If not, just read your work again. That's always a great way to remind yourself how talented you are, and there's nothing more inspiring than self-confidence.
