Smartish Pace is a contemporary Poetry Magazine that has been serving poets and readers since the fall of 1999. It has a crisp, clean look that is easy to navigate and very easy on the eyes. Inside the zine you will find work by some of the best of today's poets as well as current indepth interviews and excellent book reviews.
Smartish Pace has added something of interest to its teaders, the Poet's Q & A project. You will find it on the home page. You now have the opportunity to ask questions of today's most popular poets (currently Robert Pinsky, 2 time U.S. Poet Laureate & Stephen Dunn, this year's Pulitzer Prize winner for poetry)and Smartish pace is adding new poets every month. You can then return to the site and read their answers. Poet's Q & A Project is the first of its kind on the web. While you are there, why not subscribe to the magazine, enter the Erskine J. Poetry Prize, and submit some poems. Submissions: Smartish Pace welcomes unsolicited submissions. They recommend that you read several selections from a recent issue of the magazine before submitting so you get a feel for what the editor is looking for. For detailed information about submitting go to: http://www.smartishpace.com/guidelines.h... About the Editor: Stephen Reichert is the founder and Editor of Smartish Pace, a poetry review based in Balitmore. He has interviewed numerous poets, some of the interviews can be found at http://www.smartishpace.com; his interview with Poet David Kirby will appear this December in the Arkansas Review. A few o his poems have appeared in smaller publications. Reichert lives in Washington D.C. where he is a Traffic Court Judge for the District. In my opinion: I enjoyed every moment I spent at Smartish Pace and I didn't miss a single page. The poetry is exceptional and the reviews interesting. Plan on visiting the site and make sure you bring your coffee, a snack, and have lots of time to visit every section. It is definitely worth the read.
