Agnieszka's Dowry (AgD)Agnieszka's Dowry (AgD), is a delightful literary magazine that has made a home on the internet since 1996. The first thing you will notice when you enter the AdD site is that there is no flash, no frames, no fancy stuff - just really great poetry and shorts, computer and freehand art, and photography, all are well written and well chosen by the editors. There are no ads or annoying popups either. Visiting Agnieszka's Dowry is like curling up with a good book. You just don't want the experience to end. Speaking of curling up with AgD, you really can. Agnieszka's Dowry is also available in print form through the site: http://www.enteract.com/~asgp/agnieszka.... Submissions: Submissions to AdD must be made by email, as text in the body of the email. It is suggested that you read through several issues of the magazine so you know the kind of work the editors are looking for. For information on submitting poems or chapbooks please go to: http://www.enteract.com/~asgp/howtosubmi... From Marek Lugowski, editor: Agnieszka's Dowry (AgD) is edited by katja and me. katja is also vice president for editing at A Small Garlic Press where I am president and editor. Like most people at A Small Garlic Press, we met on Usenet's rec.arts.poems and became friends. A Small Garlic Press is a tiny Chicago educational and literary nonprofit staffed by a few part-time volunteers scattered across the internet. katja lives near Seattle and I live in Chicago. We communicate by internet. katja is a new mom and works full time as a technical manager at a computer technology startup, so since Sophie was born a year and a half ago, she finds time for AgD in little bits around her busy life. katja is a fine poet, having had work nominated by others for the Pushcart prize, twice. I've only managed that myself once. I translate Halina Poswiatowska's poetry from my native Polish to English, and have been doing this on and off since 1990. You can find this work on my website at http://www.enteract.com/~marek/HalinaFAQ/ and in the Google newsgroup archives for rec.arts.poems where I post every new translation. I work as a research programmer at Northestern University's School of Education and Social Policy, in Evanston, Illinois. I am also contributing editor at UPenn's CrossConnect. You can find some poems by katja as well as by me among the welcoming poems on A Small Garlic Press web site, here: http://www.enteract.com/~asgp/mission.ht... Our respective web sites are http://ketzle.net and http://www.enteract.com/~marek/
