Poetry Special

Lit Journal Open to Submissions

Circle Magazine appears both online and in print. This journal is a great opportunity for writers, especially if you're into writing columns. Music and book reviews are featured here, and there's an events calendar, primarily focused on poets in Pennsylvania. Circle pays in copies of the print journal. The site is multi-layered, and there's much of interest to writers in all genres.

Share your rejections!

Culled from our discussion threads is the following announcement. Balance the scales and share your own rejections with Jennifer.

Author: "/profile.cfm/Poemwriter1" (Jennifer Hollowell) Date: September 22, 2000 6:45 PM Subject: Writer's Block Project! Writer's Block Project!

I am collecting rejection slips from far and wide in an effort to fill a large acrylic "cube," or "block" (hence the title, writer's block) to be placed in a gallery. If you would like to donate your rejection slips to this project, please send and e-mail or post a comment for mailing information.

My Intent: To honor all the hard work artists, poets and writers put into their craft . . . to put a new spin on rejection . . . to turn it into art.

My Goal: To have a "writer's block" in as many galleries willing to put it on display. Thank you!

Poetry@about.com good resource for writers

Poetry@about.com covers this genre in-depth with a variety of editors. One of my favorite pages is Wendy Butler's "Publishing links." Contests and calls for submission are listed, and there are opportunities for every level of poet. Visit Publishing links.

In depth site at Writers Write

When you visit Writers Write, allow plenty of time to stroll. You'll find links to paying markets, author interviews, jobs for writers, and just about anything else you can think of. It's a great resource. Eclectic paying market for articles about writing

Literary Traveler is a unique site with a primary emphasis on articles about the artist in motion. There are first person accounts of encounters with writers and articles about places related to writers. This site pays contributors, and is very literary yet accessible.

A Poetry Kingdom

Poem Kingdom is an off the beaten path sort of place and that's one thing that makes it interesting. You can enter the random $10 Critic of the Month Award for critiquing poems of others, and there are several contests in progress. A fun place to visit.
