Author's Note: My prolonged absence has been due to the state of my health. At this time - I feel well enough to begin once again to publish - but for now - on a lesser frequency than I had been earlier. Further - I realize that my word count here is smaller than is usual for my articles. But I wanted to get this into distribution so that those of you who may be interested, can begin to follow this recent line of research and thinking. And to perhaps not lose all hope - for there is effort being expended to find a solution to end the nightmare of your eternal and excruciating pain.
Introduction Until recently - the state of the patients who suffer from the various neuropathies - has been one of little hope and much pain. The medical profession seemingly ignores the plight of these patients - leaving them with little hope of a solution to their pain and suffering. However - further study into the causes and nature of the neuropathies has yielded some fundamental insights that may soon yield a solution - that may range from effective pain relief to partial or even full remission of the disease. It is the nature and results of findings to date that will be discussed in this article. What Has Been Recently Discovered Some new and most fundamental Information regarding the causes and the nature of the Neuropathies. It has been shown that the so called "Old Thinking" that has been applied to the nature of the neuropathies - is at worst, completely in error - or at best, is insufficient and misleading. Many of the neuropathies - especially RSD - have been believed to be caused by aberrations of the sympathetic nervouse system. Recent study has shown that this is not so. But - further study has shown that there are more conditions that create the symptoms than the Sympathetic Nervous System alone. The article that is being cited here is titled: Sympathetic Nervous System and Pain: A Clinical Reappraisal. In Conclusion This article - while being one of the few recent bright lights in the dark tunnel of the neuropathies - is not yet the "Holy Grail" of the causes and cures for the pain and suffering caused by the neuropathies. There is yet more research to be accomplished. Changing this "Old Thinking" is a good sign that the direction of research will no longer be hampered and that the search for solutions may be allowed to occur no matter where the signs may lead.
