A Patient's Guide to the Neuropathic Diseases - How it Begins!

unusual aspect of this class of neuropathies is that the etiologies are not mutually exclusive - with respect to each other. That is - more than one etiology may occur in the same patient at the same time. Thus it is possible for a patient to have two different manifestations of the same or related neuropathic diseases - simultaneously.

While not yet proven to be the case - it is highly probable that those cases in which those few neuropathies that seem to be the result of physical traumata - RSD in particular - may actually be the result of a precursor condition that is awaiting a triggering event. The physical trauma is the triggering event. Diabetic Neuropathy is usually the result of an assault on the microvascular system aided by the breakdown of the immune system due to the nature of diabetes. The microvascular system is attacked physically by the IgG antibodies - and becomes permeable - and the red blood cells become the wrong shape and become inflexible. Thus poor circulation to the extremities and inflexible red blood cells. A double whammy - if you will.

Once the neuropathy is established the cycle of non-ending and ever-escalating pain begins. Thus rendering the patient virtually totally helpless in a very short time.
