  • Contact the Red Cross, United Way and Catholic Charities. Some counties have programs to assist in insulating your home from extreme temperatures - both hot and or cold.

  • If necessary avail your self of public assistance, Medicaid, food stamps, WIC, EPIC and HEAP.

  • If you suspect fraud on the part of your insurer, employer or IME report it to the fraud unit at the WC Board.

  • Report medical fraud, also, to the State Office of Professional Medical Misconduct (usually the Health Dept.).

  • If you were fired within one year of filing a WC claim - file a termination discrimination complaint.

  • If you suspect that your insurer has acted improperly, file a complaint with the Dept. of Insurance.

  • If you suspect that you are being discriminated against - file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

  • If you suspect that you have an unsafe work environment, file a complaint with the federal OSHA dept.

  • Always save your notice of decision letters. Make a note at each hearing as to the name of the judge.

  • Find out who is your claim's examiner at the WC BOARD. These examiners usually try to help injured workers.

  • You have a right to be retrained. Contact the local rehabilitation social worker at the WC Board.

  • In some states, the patient has the right to ask for a priority hearing when there is financial hardship or an emerging medical problem. Call your local claim's examiner at the WC Board for assistance.
