The Effects of the Patient Upon the State of the Disease- loosen belts or other such items. Lie upon the bed upon your back - in a comfortable position. Breathe quietly and deeply for three minutes and concentrate mildly upon your own relaxation. Then begin to think of the disease as an invasion of your body by small cells. Picture these cells and try to focus on them coursing through your blood stream and lymph system - and moving into and irritating your tissue in those places that now cause you pain. Then imagine each of these cells in some specific area. Then imagine them dissolving one by one. As each area is cleared of these cells - move to the next area. Do this for at least 30 minutes during one session. During this time - continue to breathe deeply - in a very relaxed state. At the end of the 30-minute time, then concentrate on the pain of the RSD. Try to observe if there is more than one pain source or location. Concentrate on each location or source for several seconds and then move your focus to the next pain source or location. Try to differentiate between the different locations and determine if the pain from each location is the same or different. Get to know the pain(s) intimately, and become familiar with them at this level of intimacy. Now pick one area and again differentiate the pain into its basic components. Then try to reduce the level of each component pain for a few seconds. Then do it again for the next component. Do this for each component in the area, until the every component in one area has been visited. Do not spend more than 15 minutes in this particular exercise. At the end of the exercise - breathe calmly for two or three minutes and then resume your normal activity. Try to schedule a session like this at least 4 times in a 12-hour day. Or as many times as is feasible. SUMMARY AND PROGRAM It would be helpful to refer back to the previous week's article and to read both together to obtain the overview of the entire program. Along with the Diabetic Neuropathy Diet it is designed to be a comprehensive plan - along with a vigorous and adequate pain management program - to attack and defeat RSD, and its most painful effects. Perhaps it may be possible to put RSD into eternal remission or at least
