The Medical Industry - Treatment or Abuse - Take a ChanceINTRODUCTION Today, right now, the victims of the Neuropathic Diseases do not only suffer excruciating, unending pain, but they suffer the indignities of the very doctors that are responsible for their care. Doctors that can neither understand, nor care about, or are unable to comprehend the solution to these problems. This is not to say that all people in pain are treated badly by all doctors. There are some wonderful, caring and nurturing individuals in the medical industry that are doing outstanding work and are a credit to their profession. It is the majority of doctors and other professionals of the medical industry that I now address. The medical industry includes, doctors, medical practitioners, clinics, HMOs, Insurance companies, Workman's compensation boards, Social Security SSD and SSI, and last but not least - state and federal government restrictions placed upon the availability of medication (read drugs to some) for the relief of unrelenting and excruciating pain. These groups of professionals in aggregate and the current drug laws in many states - have created a dire and drastic situation for many of the victims of these neuropathic diseases. In some extreme cases, some of those that suffer the pain of these diseases commit suicide. DEFENDING AGAINST DOUBIOUS KNOWLEDGE The primary defense available to these victims of the neuropathic diseases is one of knowledge. The Internet is the largest and most pervasive library to ever exist in the entire history of mankind. There are vast amounts of informative and valid information to be found there. The one caveat though is that one must be able to not only evaluate this information - but to establish its validity as well. Thus, one must turn to organizations such as Quack Watch and others, or to do your own evaluation. Scrutinize the source of the information. Most research documents are usually from recognized educational institutions such as Harvard Medical, Mass General Hospital, Stanford Medical School, or well-known and recognized private research institutions. Be very skeptical of information that is published by individuals. It is most helpful if source URLs or a bibliography is provided. The next step is to evaluate the verifiably true information and to determine its appropriateness and its application to the situation at hand. Often times - this means - that one is most likely to print this information and presented to the appropriate doctor in charge of treatment of the pertinent condition. In the case that one is not able to obtain the cooperation or effective treatment from the doctor, then it may be best to consider another doctor. If this is not a viable solution, then the arduous task of both educating and convincing the doctor to treat more effectively becomes necessary.
