Nothing Should Stop You

AVENUE is a plus size clothing store where I shop from time to time. Last fall I received my first mail order catalogue from them. Plastered throughout the pages of plus size clothing were the words - "NOTHING SHOULD STOP YOU." This seems to be their catch phrase; now I see it in their stores as well as in their catalogues.

Ever since seeing those four little words last fall I have not been able to get them out of my head. How true that one little sentence is.. Nothing Should Stop You.

So many times, I’ve sat and wondered, why do we let size determine the way we live our lives? How many of us have a list of things we want to do …. "when we lose a few pounds". How many times have you said or thought "I'd love to, but I can't….I'm too fat".

Whether it pertains to joining a gym, riding a roller coaster, wearing a bathing suit or going to a movie, size should not interfere with the things you want to do in life. Why should we not enjoy our lives to the fullest starting NOW? There is no logical reason for us to put off doing things we wish to do. Of course if you have a health problem or if it is a physical impossibility then you might not be able to ride that roller coaster. But otherwise why let size get in the way?

When it comes to living our lives to the fullest, we tend to let what other people might say or think interfere with the decisions we make. So many times I’ve seen an overweight woman who wasn’t afraid to do the very same things I would like to do. These same things, like riding a roller coaster, that I have convinced myself I can’t do because of my size.

If you think about it, like I have, you too may realize that there really isn't any reason to let your size determine what you are able to do. If you put your mind to it there isn't anything you can't do.

Just remember…nothing should stop you!
