The Blushing Big? Bride

I had just gotten engaged about the same time my cousin was shopping for a wedding gown of her own. She invited me along to one of her fittings. I was excited to see her in her dress, but not quite as excited as I was about browsing for a dress of my own.

At the bridal boutique I began to look at all of the beautiful wedding gowns. The boutique owner asked me if I saw any that I would like to try on. I immediately picked the dress that had caught my attention and showed it to her. She said that I could take it to the dressing room and try it on. I looked at her in dismay, the dress on the rack was a size 6 I was a size 26! When I asked her if she had it in a bigger size, she smiled and said no, most of the dresses on the rack were size 6 or 8. Then she explained that since the bottom of the dress was full, I could put it on from the waist down and just hold up the top in front of my chest to see what it would look like. How disappointing this was to me. Instead, I let my cousin try on the dress. It's not easy to imagine what your dream dress will look like on you while viewing it on someone else.

At the onset of our engagement our wedding date seemed so far in the future. In reality the time passed very quickly, too quickly. Before I knew it, it was time for me to go and buy my wedding dress and I weighed the same as I had two years ago. I hadn't lost ALL the excess weight, as a matter of fact I didn't lose ANY of it.

I went to the same bridal boutique my cousin had. The owner, Hannah, was a seamstress and I knew that she could customize a dress if I needed it done - she could make bigger sleeves, sew in an extra panel or even sew two dresses together if need be! When we got to the boutique Hannah asked me a few questions about what style dress I was looking for. Then she brought out several dresses for me to look at. I knew right away that the
