Original Casts

It turned out very well. The script was produced and well-received by their audiences the following year. They were so pleased with that play that they asked me to write a Christmas play for them. They're doing that one this coming year. Recently, I returned with published copies of the mellerdrammer script, listing them as the original cast. They were excited.

I worked with a group in Denver as an actor and backstage for eight years before I started writing my first play. That group has since produced about dozen of my scripts, most of which were subsequently published. Another group in Denver I first became aware of when I was reviewing plays. After I saw a couple of their productions, parodies of "Star Trek," I offered to write a script for them, where the crew of the Enterprise gets stranded on Gilligan's Island. I have now written several scripts for them. A third group in Denver, my kids' school, is where my wife and I have produced shows for about 7 years, each time the shows including at least one script of mine. In all these cases, a lot of scriptwriting was done with particular actors (include children) and theaters and budgets and set limitations in mind.

I firmly believe that luck is what happens when opportunity meets preparation. Always be prepared.
