Unfortunately, the French were never able to master the use of the longbow. Rich bounties were offered for those who could show proficiency with the English weapon, but there were woefully few takers. Even 60 years later, so inadequate were the French archers, that Henry V of England would immortalize himself in the lopsided victory he scored against even heavier odds than Poitiers.
