Boogie Woogie, Part VLet's try a different right hand pattern over the same bass pattern. We're going to learn a very common, useful and, actually, classic right hand pattern. Start with a C chord in the right hand as described in the last article: C, E, G You should be fingering this chord with your thumb, middle and pinky fingers. Now, move your middle and pinky fingers up one note, to F and A. Play that new chord: C, F, A Now move back to the original chord: C, E, G That's it. That's the pattern we will play when the left hand is playing a C on the bottom. Here it is all together: Now, when the left hand plays an F on the bottom, move your right hand up 3 notes to an F chord: F, A, C Do the same maneuver in this new place on the keyboard: When the left hand plays a G on the bottom, move your right hand up 1 note to a G chord: G, B, D Do the maneuver again in this place on the keyboard: Below is the left hand pattern. Play the chords, as described above, on the bold letters: One po-ta-to Two po-ta-to etc... C-G C-G, C-A C-A C-G C-G, C-A C-A C-G C-G, C-A C-A C-G C-G, C-A C-A C-G C-G, C-A C-A F-C F-C, F-D F-D F-C F-C, F-D F-D F-C F-C, F-D F-D F-C F-C, F-D F-D C-G C-G, C-A C-A C-G C-G, C-A C-A C-G C-G, C-A C-A C-G C-G, C-A C-A G-D G-D, G-E G-E G-D G-D, G-E G-E F-C F-C, F-D F-D F-C F-C, F-D F-D C-G C-G, C-A C-A C-G C-G, C-A C-A C-G C-G, C-A C-A C-G C-G, C-A C-A You should play this until it feels really comfortable.
