Free Sheet Music, MIDI and More of Chopin

If you're looking for sheet music, check out "The Chopin Files" below.

Most people, musicians and non, know that Chopin is one of the most famous composers in the history of western music. I am presenting him here, because not only was he a great composer and performer, but he dedicated himself to the piano. Although he wrote works for piano and orchestra and chamber works, I do not know of any Chopin work that does not include the piano.

And, in writing for the piano, he took piano texture to new heights. Examples of this can be heard in his famous Etudes, in which a musical/textural idea is developed into a piano piece. Chopin also wrote many dance-like pieces inspired by musical themes he had heard in folk music.

This week I offer what I consider the best of the Chopin sites on the web. Chopin's music is well worth exploring for the pianist for many reasons. You will find beautiful ballads, fun dances, challenging etudes and more. Enjoy!
