In physical therapy we use many types of massage treatment with different purpose. To treat restrictions in the muscles, to release chronic muscle tension to accelerate the flow of lymphatic fluid and sometimes only to relax our patient. How does this therapy work?
If you can imagine your body as a factory then your muscles will be workers in that factory. For their better job, they'll need enough food, rest and air. In our body, blood supplies muscles with all that is necessary for normal function. Massage increases the flow of blood throughout the body - which means more oxygen, and less poisonous toxins in our cells. This is the basic benefit of massage. It results with recovery of sprains and muscle strains (less serious sprains can be treated by massage therapy alone), reduce of muscle soreness, better body flexibility. It helps loosen and stimulate tight or weak muscles and improves postural alignment. This treatment will speed recovery after vigorous physical exercise and accidents. Also, it will energize the body and make you feel less tired. However, most important is that our muscles filled with oxygen and relaxed by hands of massage therapist will finally help relive tension headaches and back pains. Before you enjoy this healing touch, learn something about massage. What can you expect from a one massage session? The average full-body massage session lasts approximately one hour. Partial massage session lasts a half-hour. It includes a massage for some parts of the body, such as neck and shoulders, back or legs and feet. Always allow relaxation time before and after the session. Hot tubs, steam baths and saunas can assist in the relaxation process. However, if you don't have opportunity for that a nice, hot shower and bed will work just as it! These are some questions you might want to ask a therapist: what certifications do you hold, how long have you been practicing massage, what type of massage will you be using, how long will the session last, what kind of oils, creams, products, etc. do you use, how can I make an appointment, what kind of payment do you accept? Because you can choose treatment that you like best, it is good to know which types of massage, therapist can use. There are many different kinds of massage. Some of them are very popular among the people and everybody knows what exactly they represent, but there is a large group of ´unknown´ methods of massage.
