Yippie! Summers Here! (Maybe Too Soon?)

It's been way too hot here where we live and there have been heat index warnings, therefore, the little ones have been inside much more during this month. The weather here for the beginning of July makes you think it was the middle of August. Needless to say, I've been busy searching the web for activities to keep our little ones happy (indoors). I've found a number of sites to share with you this time, and I'll save the rest for next time. (I have a feeling this heat won't subside for long, if it does at all!) (Be sure to check the links for other sites of interest as well, as there are many activities that you can do "inside".)

Looking for some "different" indoor activities? Gryphonhouse Books has a whole section set up with activities that they offer parents, daycare providers, teachers, and just about anybody who deals directly with children. Be sure to take a look at the Outside Play and Learning Book to get some ideas for outdoor play when the weather gets a little cooler. The kids will have a blast!

L'il Fingers Storybooks online, has a few stories for our Toddlers that will keep them busy for quite some time! My little one LOVES the "Shapes" storybook, as it is animated. (Anything that makes music or moves will usually "grab" their attention!)

For lots of printable pages for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, visit Weeones. Browse through the site, and scroll to the bottom for printable pages that will keep them busy indefinitely. (You might even get something done around the house while they play!)

Wee-R-Bigger offers many original and "different" ideas, songs and activities for our older ones. The site zeros in on children between the Kindergarten and 4th grade age group. (Personally, my favorites are the First and Second grade activities.) Take a look for yourself! (Toward the bottom of the page.)

Last but not least is a site that is from The Teachers A to Z Online Lesson Plans and is sure to keep our kids busy with lots of ideas using their very own (get this) "Socks and Shoes". Pretty neat huh? Be sure to take a look! There are some great activities for smaller children here, as well as Special Ed. Who would ever think that a simple pair of "Socks and Shoes" could keep them busy for hours?

Hope you find lots of activities in the sites I've recommended. They should keep the little ones busy for at least two weeks or more.
