Health and Fitness Gifts for the Holidays – Part 2

On to more goodies and exercise tools for holiday gifts. If you didn’t catch the first article, you’ll want to check out the goodies on that page too.

Resistance Bands

Resistance Bands or tubing are simply that. You can go to a pharmacy or store that sells therapy goods and have a long piece of tubing or band cut off. They usually come in large rolls. You can also purchase tubing in the fitness section of a store that will be fitness ready with handles and all. Resistance exercise with this tool is fun because it can be store anywhere, it’s easy to throw in a suitcase, and it’s effective. To find bands online try www.spri.com. I do recommend that you visit with your fitness facility or hire a personal trainer to go through exercises with you on the band so that the best benefit is achieved.

Exercise Videos

Exercise videos are a popular choice for the holidays, but buyers beware, not all videos are good. Some have poor instruction and unsafe instruction. I recommend visiting www.collagevideo.com . Instructors I recommend are Karen Voight, Gin Miller, Kari Anderson, Jay Blahnik, Andre Houle, Petra Kolber and Hugo Diez. There are some really poor ones out there that I won’t mention. If you want to email me on opinions of certain videos I would be happy to share what I know.

Sticky Mat

A sticky mat is a common mat used in Yoga practice. It allows you to become more grounded by being barefoot with your practice. It’s a must for someone who practices Yoga on a regular basis. This mat can be used for all activities and it works great with your stability ball so you don’t slide. Try www.huggermugger.com for great products.

Music

Music has an amazing effect on our mood. You can purchase any music or CD that you like. Music mixed for group exercise classes can also work well at home. Check out www.powermusic.com for premixed music. Look for “Powerdown” CDs for a relaxing and soothing sound.

Spa Stuff

Last but not least, always a good gift, are spa basics. At this time of the year, everyone needs to slow down, relax, and reflect. Create a spa package for that special someone and include scented/unscented candles, scented oils, bath salts, music and lotion. Go all out and include a big comfy robe for after. Good luck and the best of health and wellness to you this holiday!
