Exercise with Hypertension

Believe it or not the different diseases that we may encounter as we age can effect how we approach exercise. Hypertension is a major public health problem in most Western industrialized countries. An estimated 50 million individuals have an elevated blood pressure or are taking antihypertensive medications. In these persons there is an increased risk of nonfatal and fatal cardiovascular disease and renal disease.

So what’s high? This table represents the Classification of Blood Pressure for Adults 18 years and Older who are NOT taking antihypertensive medication and not acutely ill.
