Diminuitive Beauty

Water Drop 1
EOS 300D Digital Rebel
1/60s f/5.6 at 54.0mm iso100

This shot combines the red branch I liked from the one above with the clarity and detail in the water drop from the first.  The curve of the branch is also appealing to me.

I am a fan of narrow depth of field.  I like the single object in focus while the rest of the photo fades into a comfortable blur.  I know that many people feel that DOF this narrow is not appealing, but I must say I really like shots like this one.  I am also learning how difficult it is to get a broader DOF with close-up shots.

In all I shot about 80 photos that day and really only found three that spoke to me in some way.  That's a pretty good ratio for me, actually.  The point, however, is that even the tiniest of things...a water drop for example...can contain the most beautiful images.  Sometimes we seem to be overwhelmed by the largest of things in the world and forget to look at the small things.  Take a moment to look, to savor, and definitely to photograph.
