If you are seeking a truly fine clearinghouse of Internet philosophy resources, you would do well to visit EpistemeLinks.com. The site maintains one of the more thorough listing of philosophy sites and materials sorted into categories such as philosophers, topics, events, e-texts, books, job listings, academic departments, images, organizations, humor, and many others.
The site highlights a "Gem of the Month" philosophy resource and maintains a "Gems Archive" currently containing links to 34 particularly useful sites and materials, a useful jump-list for those interested in touring some of the Internet's best philosophy sites. The site is maintained by Thomas Ryan Stone, whom some might remember as the Webmaster for the 20th World Congress of Philosophy, perhaps the largest online philosophy publishing project, with over 900 papers from the August 1998 conference currently available online (and profiled here in an earlier article). Clearly, Stone has brought his penchant for thoroughness to his new site. Stone describes the site's selection criteria this way: "Generally speaking, a site must in whole or in part be about a recognized philosopher or address a philosophical issue. By the former I mean: one who might appear in any number of large philosophy reference works, or be referred to at least in part as a "philosopher" in a major encyclopedia. By the latter I mean, primarily, issues from metaphysics, epistemology, logic, ethics, politics, aesthetics, and any consideration of the foundations of other fields of study or institutions, e.g., Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Language, etc." The site's comprehensiveness undoubtedly accounts for its popularity: it boasts some 2,500 unique visitors each day. I would recommend that you include it in your bookmarks of the best general philosophy sites the Internet currently has to offer. Go To Page: 1
