An exhausting week of office-work is enough to drive you dreaming of a weekend get-away ---from pressures, deadlines and other irritations that are career related. It's time to give yourself a little pampering and consolation after getting the hard-earn pay and the much-coveted position. Nothing beats a weekend relaxation or adventure that will surely recharge your body and spirit, and get you even ready for the next week's loads of work. Pristine blue water and water sports? Scenic accommodations? An adventurous island tour? What else? Heaven on earth is not far from Manila's environs, in fact whether you are in the Philippines or abroad, they are worth traveling for.

Subic

Located between rainforest clad mountains and crystal clear bay water is Subic. Once home to the largest US Naval Base, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) is now a perfect destination to tourists, Filipinos and foreigners alike. With plenty of resorts and hotels offering finest accommodation, dining and recreation facilities, you would surely enjoy your weekend stay. The place also boasts of its world-class golf, marina facilities, casino and duty free shopping. Whether you are a romantic or sporty type, you have your choice of activities. You can amuse yourself to a sunrise and sunset stroll or get more adventurous like snorkeling, jet skiing, a bay cruise, speed or paddle boating. And if you are a certified scuba diver you can discover for yourself various shipwrecks in the area! But if water sports do not appeal to you, you can get off on horseback, bicycle ride or trek trough Subic's rainforest and get a jungle environment survival training. If you favor indoor activities, you can either suit yourself to bowling and billiards or ballroom dancing. Is there anything else you want?

Corregidor

If you're set to see the remnants of one of the fiercest and longest battles ever fought by the Filipinos, a 45-minute trip via cruise boat from Roxas Boulevard in Manila brings you to Corregidor Island. This historic destination is the home for ruined barracks, colossal batteries, huge artillery and old Spanish lighthouse that remind us of the valor of the Filipino and American soldiers during World War II. The Malinta Tunnel, once headquarters of beleaguered soldiers now houses a light and sound presentation of the Corregidor story. There are a lot more things to explore around the island that you can do via tranvia, a bus patterned to the old railway-train used in old Manila.
