Viagra Works!

When a client came in for his first prescription of Viagra, he was apprehensive and skeptical. At first he didn't even want to fill his Rx, but I finally convinced him that he would never know of its value unless he took the drug. His insurance carrier refused to pay, even partly, so the full burden of the cost fell on him. He ventured into the arena with the purchase of 3 tablets.

It was several weeks before he tried the first dose. The next morning he was waiting for me as I opened my pharmacy. He wore a dour look on his face and was sporting a week's worth of grouch beneath the chip he carried on his shoulder.

"It don't work!" he growled through the darkness of his expression. "Ten dollars worth of pill and the thing don't work! How do you explain that?"

Actually, it's very simple. There are two ingredients needed (besides the Viagra tablet) before anyone will get a favorable result. The first, and most important ingredient is a willing partner. If you and your partner are along in years and have spent a good part of your lives together, your spouse may not have the same desire as you. Actually, she may be cursing the advent of the drug.

If I know my humanity, the majority of women who pass the age of sixty aren't as gung-ho on sexual activity as are men. I do believe most would rather cuddle, or hold hands, or sit side by side and watch a really bad movie, than engage in the "act" of love. More often than not, if she was sexually active, he wouldn't need the Viagra unless the problem was physical.

The second ingredient necessary to help Viagra to work is the proper psychological attitude. Lack of mood, fear of inadequate performance or any other of a number of barriers could pop up to interfere with the situation and really mess up the opportunity. That's what happened to my client. His spouse just couldn't generate any desire, he kept worrying that the pill wouldn't work, and his anxiety took command.

Viagra was developed to alleviate impotence, not give old men another chance at an active sex life. It is a wonder drug for those who have lost the ability to make love though they, and their spouses, still have that need - that desire to satisfy each other and give an open display of love. To paraphrase an old (and at one time, lewd) joke, Viagra is for the needy, not the greedy.
