Bev: They're only CG rats, but they're still cute, you just gotta hope that there was room in the lifeboats for rats!

RAT!

Not actually a horror movie, this is a documentary shot in New York City, about rats and how people deal with them. There are lots of scenes of rats that are supposed to be scary or creepy, but if you have rats you will find them cute. Be warned--there are a couple scenes of dead rats that might be upsetting to a very sensitive person. But if you get this film and invite a few rat-loving friends (and a few rats) over to watch it, you will SCREAM LAUGHING!

Score 5 yogurt drops

DRACULA 2000

The usual rat appearance in the tomb, with some squishy Agouti's making gratuitous "rat in the tomb" squeals. Pretty good flick or is it that I just can't get enough of Mr Eye Candy, Gerard Butler! (hummina!) Movie Ratviewer: Janet Girard

THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Right up front I confess that this isn't really a Horror movie, and rats appear only incidentally. However, I had to get this movie listed because it is SO GREAT! Tim Burton captures the true spirit of both Halloween and Christmas in this animated masterpiece full of incredible imagery. Watch for rats scurrying about the square in several sceens, and one fat rat holding a present when Jack first meets Mr. Claus. If you don't get to it by Halloween, "The Nightmare Before Christmas" fits just as nicely into those two cold, boring months between Halloween and Christmas.

Score: 5 yogurt drops (but only 1 yogurt drop for rat appearances)

ELVIRA: MISTRESS OF THE DARK

A campy, sexy little comedy. Elvira is a witch and doesn't know it, until she inherits a spell book and a dog from her great aunt. The dog is a white miniature poodle, to which Elvira gives a punk haircut (complete with scarlet mohawk section) and leather accents. Eventually we learn that the dog is a familiar, and can change into different animals. It turns into a white rat with a mohawk and a studded leather belt! Too funny! P.S. Elvira is a big supporter of PETA.

Score: 4 yogurt drops.

MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND

They're not *real* rats, of course, but Muppet rats. But they are v v cute. Rizzo (also a rat! so all the Muppet films have a rat in! & Rizzo is very rat-behaved) sells cruise tickets on the ship to all his rat friends, so there's lots of shots of rats doing cruise-type things (dancing in the evening, sipping cocktails, having romantic moments leaning over the rail, etc etc). And a *superb* bit where they pull back from a scene with Miss Piggy and Kermit on the island, to a rat tour with a rat tour guide, who says "And here we have the location where they shot the movie Muppet Treasure Island!" & all the rats go "ooooh!" & get their cameras out :-)
