Have you ever wondered what "type" of rat you have? Or have you ever gotten confused hearing some one say they recently adopted a rat that is a Mink Capped Blazed Odd-eyed Dumbo? Well, let me see what I can do to clear up some of that confusion! First, you need to understand that rats are rats! There are not different breeds of rats when it comes to our loveable pets; however there are many, many different types of varieties. Ok, so with that established, all rats have ears, right? RIGHT! So with that said, you should be able to look at your rats ears and say either, "I have a dumbo rat!" or "My rat has standard ears." Next we'll talk about four different types of rats. As a rule, most rats have smooth fur, however there are some rats who are exceptions to that rule! Rex and Hairless rats have grown in popularity in the past several years.
Rats eyes come in a variety of different colors.The fur color of the rat determines what color a rats eyes are.Most lighter colors have either pink or red eyes. Darker colors are either ruby or black. Have you ever seen a dog with two different colored eyes?Well, guess what? Rats can have two eye colors too!
