Can You Have Allergies and Live with Ratties in Harmony?

Ø Apply an over the counter cream, such as aloe, diluted tea tree oil, or Benadryl, to scratches / welts.

Ø Use over the counter allergy relief eye drops, such as Steri Optics.

Ø Visit your health care provider for a prescription of allergy medication that covers pet dander. Zyrtec, Allegra D, and Rynatan are examples; work with your doctor to find the right one for you!

Ø Go one step further and visit an allergist who can give you a series of shots that will eventually lessen your allergy to rats and mice.

Ø If you have asthma, work with your doctor to find medications that help keep it at bay. I use a rescue inhaler of albuterol and take Singulair daily.

Last, but not least.... Do not get discouraged if you have allergies and love the little buggers as much as I do! If I can survive with rats and allergies, YOU CAN TOO!
