Well, I've not been having very good luck lately. Right now, I've got the 'flu, my computer's acting up and, is it just me, or is life getting weirder by the minute? Anyway, I thought I'd relax this week with some nice, soothing rat art. Here's the best of what I found out there on the web. Sit back, realx and enjoy our virtual rat museum tour!
Amara Collection This is an index of 332 fun drawings by Amara. Not all of them are rats, but there's a good proportion of them included. This is part of the yerf.com archive, which is a nice, G-rated database of furry drawings. Other furry sites are not as discriminating, and I don't recommend you visit them for the first time with small children in tow! This one is safe, and fun to browse for cute rat pics, etc. Have fun, and use their search engine to find many more rats drawn by other artists.
Baby with Rat by Salvador Dali Okay, this one's not in the best of taste, but if you're sick of all those, rat-eats-baby stories like Dali must have been, you'll get the humor. Wow -- that means Dali must have been a rat lover, too! For a bit more on Dali, check out this page.
Brown or Norway Rat from Vivaporous Quadrupeds of North America by John James Audubon If you thought Audubon only did birds, you're very much mistaken! Here is a charming study of an extended Norweigan rat family having dinner in the local melon patch. (The large one on the left looks a lot like our Ben, minus the obvious boy bits.) I wonder why Audubon made all the rats female. Was it censorship, do you think? Use the index to browse the rest of the site for more of Audubon's rat drawings -- he must have been a big rat fan!
The Christmas Rat Collection by Sal Nicholson Fabulous art featuring everyone's favorite rat, the Christmas Rat! Santa is just a myth for silly people who can't face reality. (There's really a Christmas rattie who brings lots of presents and leaves stockings full of raisins for those who haven't given their rats enough yogurt drops that year.) Explore the site a bit to find out more about the Christmas Rat and Sal's other rats. Make sure you check out the pics of Lazarus dunking his head! Go To Page: 1 2
