Rat Stories on the Web

Here's a selection of rattie story links I've collected from from around the web. Some are realistic, some are fictional, and some are just plain weird, but they're all fun to read. Enjoy!

A Hallowe'en Tail
http://www.fortunecity.com/tattooine/con...

Are you a Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea fan? If so, this site's definitely for you. If not, there's still enough stuff here to make rat folks happy as well. Bet you didn't know they allowed rats on submarines did you? Well, they don't really, but I won't ruin the surprise for you. If you like this story, hit the Home link at the top of the page and browse around for more stories by Rosemary Alcott - ones with "Rat" or "Tail" in the title are your best bets. Ahoy!

In the Life of Theodore B. Rat
http://home.beseen.com/hobbies/oldcountr...

Follow the first star on this page to get to Teddy's story. It's a bit hard to read due to some HTML formatting problems, but all in all it's a good story. (The URL for part three is http://home.beseen.com/hobbies/oldcountr... and part four is http://home.beseen.com/hobbies/oldcountr... in case you have troubles getting there....) Teddy's story is told from his point-of-view as he goes from being a "small feeder rat" to finding a happy home then losing his best friend, etc.

Rat Stories
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages...

This is a very nice collection of rat stories in English and Dutch (click on the flag button at the top of the page to get the Dutch version). Some of them, I'm sure you've heard before, some not! Be sure to check out the "sewer" rat pics and read about Mickey's and Antoinet's adventures. When you're done reading, click on the big I (for index) or the camera (for 150 or so rattie photos) buttons and explore this fun site some more.

A Story About Rat Appreciation, etc.
http://www.ratical.org/ratical/raticalLi...

This is a really enormous site with a lot to offer! This page started as the author's wanting to "share something of the influence of rats and the role they have played in my life" and is now a gargantuan work that can be a bit hard to wade through at times. But there is enough about rats here to make it a good read - go ahead, take the afternoon off and wander around a bit! From A and B to rathauses to Ratmandu, there's tons of stuff to make pretty much any ratfan very happy.

Trevor and the Pack Rat
http://www.northforkpress.com/index.html

Trevor finds out that a pack rat has moved into his workshop and rearranged all his tools and equipment. His friends talk him into trying various ways of killing the rodent. Fortunately, the pack rat is too smart to eat poison, and Trevor's conscience gets the better of him when he realizes that he has a lot more in common with pack rats than he previously thought. This is the online version of a children's book with some terrific illustrations, but you need to have Shockwave installed on your browser to view it. The story is also available for download if you don't have Shockwave, so don't be too downhearted!
