Flying with your PetThere are just a few basic rules to keep in mind when taking your pet on a plane: 1. When your book your flight tell your travel agent or your airline that you are traveling with your pet. Get a health certificate from your veterinarian. Sedatives or tranquilizers may be necessary, so have some handy in case your pet acts nervous or gets over anxious. 2. Ask the airline you are using what their crate requirements are. 3. Make sure the crate is airline safe and clearly marked for identification. 4. Check out the type of cargo that will be traveling with your pet. Dry ice fumes, for example, can be lethal in an enclosed space. 5. Try to get a non-stop flight to reduce the number of times airline personnel will have to move your pet. 6. Do not feed your pet for eight hours before the flight. Have a wonderful trip!
