Email The Thing To Do?

© E. Ross Helton

Surely there isn't any other way to correspond except by email; is there? Those of us who use it on a regular basis probably would have this kind of reaction. However there is a whole segment of society in this country and a great part of the world that isn't online and doesn't get the sweats waiting for the next email to arrive. For these people the once a day wait as the local postman arrives constitutes their total involvement in the communication effort.

People who use standard mail don't have the pleasure of:

Mailer-Daemon: I don't know who this person is, but they keep sending me email on a daily basis. If I can get their address, I will request that they stop it.

Spam: Used to be this was a product you bought at the grocery store when you couldn't afford anything better. Email Spam is like the grocery item; it is made of the bits, pieces, and unwanted leftovers. At least the grocery item is able to be eaten and doesn't keep haunting you!

Attachment Hell: You've had those shreaded documents or files which came with your email. If you are lucky you can figure out who sent the message and then you can try to get them to sent it to some other email account that will accept it.

Reply to Reply To Reply: Isn't email supposed to save time, paper, and all of that? Isn't it great to have to print out the email to find out that there were only three new lines to read?

The Close Personal 100: Before you can read that personal email; you have to scroll through about a thousand other email addresses besides your own just to get to the real text. Of course, by this time you know that you are the 'Special ONE' who received it.

Of course my friend the 'Del Key' works great in getting rid of those pesty emails I don't want. It works just like this, oops I guess that maybe it works too great. Oh, well maybe whoever it was; will send a follow up and then I can find out what they wanted?

Make it a good day!

Ross
