The PC--Your Co-Worker?: Or Maybe The Worst Nightmare?PC(personal computer) users will many times swear that their units are very close to having human-like if not actual human traits of some of their fellow workers. Somewhere in the development of PCs, co-workers of the designers must have gotten some of their chromosones mixed in the computer chips. If this isn't true, why have the following things been so prevalent in PCs since their beginnings? Also it is well documented(at least at the water cooler) that PCs are designed to be like the worst co-worker possible. The Stubborn Co-Worker: This computer cannot or will not work with you unless you do things its's way. No matter how nice you are and no matter how many gifts, you give it (new programs; more megabytes), it demands that you can only work with it when * it * wants! The Forgetful One: Like some humans, this PC can never get it right. You keep telling it what you want, and it promises to be there and to deliver. However when you need it, it has misplaced, or forgotten where it put the files you need. Many times, it cannot even find the programs to run these files. The One Always on Break: This PC is never to be found when it comes time to get things done. It won't power up, or at least it takes its own sweet time doing it. You get to a critical point in getting the job done, and it shuts down! The More Sick One: Like you, this one gets viruses. However, it can't stand letting you get any sympathy or attention. You get the Asian flu, it turns around has something like the 'Hong Kong Creeping Gout'. You get maybe a day or two to try and recover. It takes days, and even weeks. Besides that, teams of experts have to be called in to be at it's side until it recovers. Hopefully you have never experienced any co-workers that have any of these traits, and if you very lucky your PC will never develop them either! Make it a good day! E. Ross Helton
