Securing your home wireless network - Part IIPlacement of your wireless router - A good wireless router has a range up to 1,000 feet. While it isn't possible to place the router so that it is only accessible within your house, if you try to place the router as close to the center of your home as possible, it will minimize the leakage outside your home. At the very least, place the router away from windows and outside walls. All of these recommendations that I have listed here will go a long way toward securing your wireless network to prevent an attacker from invading your computers and others, as well. If any of these suggestion are not well understood, write me and I'll explain them as best as I can. Another suggestion would be to consult the manuals and the website for the router you have. Usually, they have a wealth of information available.
