The 'Pause That Refreshes - Surgical Menopausethe recovery time. She did say, thankfully, that I could have sex again, (which gave me permission to attack Steve the minute he walked in the door that night). She also reminded me that it would still be another couple of weeks before I felt completely back to normal She was right. It took a full eight weeks to my pre-surgery physical self. My energy level is back to normal. I have no more cervix, uterus or ovaries. I opted against HRT, mainly because they brought on more migraines. I'm taking calcium for bone loss and my doctor has set me up for an annual bone density test. I'm taking vitamin E for the night sweats and after three months I think it's actually doing some good. I'm also taking dong quai, St. John's wort, and black cohosh. I have no idea if these are doing me any good at all, but thought I'd give them a try for a few months. Although, because I had to go into the medicine cabinet to remember the names of all three of these, I probably need to start taking ginko baloba, too. I now have no more periods (reason enough to celebrate). One of these days I'll get back to exercising daily. As for the mood swings, I've decided to surrender. I figure after all the years of bending over backwards, being diplomatic and putting others first, it's time to stand up straight, speak my mind and do just exactly what I want to do. You know - it's actually a lot of laughs.
