Dale Edmands, Kookamonga Square & "The New Oracy"a "sound card" in their computer. As one follows the score of written words and sentences, one apprehends their sounds, uttered by the poet in real time. Other poets at Kookamonga Square are also featured reading their poems, including Kat Logan, Christina Conrad, as well as the present writer, Billy Marshall Stoneking. It is Edmands' hope that all of the featured poets at Kookamonga Square will eventually record two or three of their poems, and these be available to all who visit there. Certainly, the experience of HEARING a poet read his or her work opens up that poet's entire portfolio to a larger and more enthusiastic audience. It is a way of giving people back their ears! It is also a way - perhaps the best and most obvious way - of returning poetry to the entire tribe, and not simply a small and elite section of it.
