Internet Resources for Canadian Gardeners
General Gardening Sites
I Can Garden
This proudly Canadian web site, based in Calgary, has lots of information for gardeners from all across Canada. Everything from informative articles to Canadian zone maps, it includes details on gardening catalogues (print and on-line, Canadian and others), information and links to magazines (some of which target small geographical areas), information on public gardens across Canada, events, contests, stuff for kids, and much, much more! Hedgerows Garden Tapestry
Hedgerows features homepages of garden societies from across Canada and news about upcoming events and shows. This is also home of the VanDusen Garden website. Vancouver-based and VERY Vancouver-oriented. The Canadian Gardener
The companion site to the CBC TV programme with host David Tarrant. Canadian Gardening
This monthly Canadian garden magazine has recently gone offline. Does anywhere know where it is? Please email it to me if you can and I will add it here.
East Coast Gardener
A really good site for Maritime Gardeners. Forums and Newsgroups
There are many forums and newsgroups, but finding one that has anyone actually participating can sometimes be difficult. I've found one, and it just happens to be Canadian as well! Canadian Gardening Forums
This is a very lively forum, where Canadians of all expertise levels can ask questions. Two professional gardeners host the forum with the help of a group of keen Canadian gardeners from coast to coast. It is organized in such a way so as you may be able to find the answer to your question before you ask it! Weather Information
One thing that farmers like to keep on top of is the weather. And gardeners do too. One of the best ways to do that is to tune into a weather network, or watch your local news. I live without TV however, and cannot bear CBC am, so I use the next resource frequently to check the upcoming weather.
