A Few Hints and TipsHow do we get this to sort properly? - Easy - we cheat! Insert a column before name, then copy and paste the town column in the newly created column. We now have Town, Name, Town, PostCode and Favourite Team. Now we can sort on the first Town column and the name and the sort will work correctly. Once done, we can remove the first "Town" column. Windows Want a quick way of setting up a shortcut to the desktop for an option in the Programs menu? Click, Start, Programs and then move the mouse to highlight the menu entry you want a short cut for. Don't left click the option (which would run the program), but click the right mouse button. A menu appears. Select the "Send To" option and there you will find an option to send to the desktop as shortcut - nice and easy! Fed up with opening and closing applications? Don't! Just minimise the application and run another. The minimised program will appear in the taskbar at the foot of the screen. You can "swap" between programs by either clicking on the programs' tab in the taskbar or by holding down the ALT key and pressing the TAB key. ALT + TAB will let you cycle through all opened programs, one after the other. I often use anything up to 6 different programs that I switch to using this method - especially when web authoring. As well as having my web editor open, I have a graphics package, a 3D modelling program, animation software - and I can switch between each very easily. This will even work with some DOS programs (even games if they are well behaved). More tips next week - till then.
