Employing some good habits...It is not uncommon when designing screens to "move things around" and this moving often means that fields become out of synch when the tab order is tested (or, more frustratingly - when it is not!). There is nothing worse than entering data onto a screen only to find the cursor leaping around all over the place - especially for highly trained users who can touch type and don't need to look at the keyboard. Choose a style of tabbing (as previously mentioned) and stick to it. If you don't want a user to enter a field (because the system has already calculated the value), then don't make it a tab stop. Changing the property of the field easily does this. You can change the tab order by selecting the detail form property - right click the small square in the top left corner of the screen in design mode. You can get the system to do the tab order for you automatically, but I find that it gets confused in some cases - so be prepared to make final adjustments. This is the final installment on databases - for now. Something different for next week. Till then.
